At this point in time, there is only a small number of widely accepted cephalometric methodes which make use of 3D volume or surface data. 1 Also all of the available 2D cast analyses can be applied to a virtual model. While in 2D all distances defined in these analyses are measured projected into the image plane, in 3D the same distances are measured point-to-point in space.
