Such behaviour may have several reasons - beside operating system updates the main reason is an outdated database server program version OnyxDBServer. In such case it is sufficient to run a version update/upgrade on the server by program Onyx3Config. For this purpose you need to have admin permissions on the server. If internet is available on the server, open Onyx3Config and click button [Start Server Update] bottom right. Download the update and follow up the displayed setup instructions. Depending on the version difference, the update process thereafter can take a few minutes - don´t worry if nothing happens and the task seems to be inactive. After the update installation is completed (several progress bars will appear), database server program OnyxDBServer will launch automatically as a program. Open Onyx3Config therafter again  to stop the program and run the service by the related button.

If you do not have internet on the server, download the update file here, unzip the atrchive on the server, launch OnyxCDMenu.exe and continue as described above.

   



How do I know if I´m using the latest version?


Find the current release number on the OnyxCeph³™-Homepage  in the internet in menu OnyxCeph³™|Current Release. The release number of the version you are using can be found in menu item Help|About ...  in OnyxCeph³™.

If there is internet access on the local OnyxCeph³™ client PC, you can check the version status top right in the program main window. If the release marker is not green but red, updates are available:

Finally, in case you have internet access on the Server you can launch Onyx3Config from within program group Onyx3 Server or via desktop link. There you will find current update information in the lower panel Server Update.  

 

How can I get an update?


If you run a valid license that includes support (license type subscription, OSL or license type purchase, RL+) you can download and install each avaiable update. In case you have internet access, on the Server, please run Onyx3Config from within program group Onyx3 Server or via desktop link. Launch the update by the related button in the lower panel Server Update

If you don´t have internet access on the server, simply download the Update file in ZIP format in your customer account on www.onyxceph.com on any other computer. Unzip the file to a temp folder (e.g. ..\OnyxCD) and run OnyxCDMenu.exe from within this temp folder on the server to launch the update.

Alternatively, you can ask for sending an update on CD-ROM by phone or online,. Put this CD to the CD-ROM drive on the server and launch the update from the CD splash menu.    

 



How to install an update?


All Updates need to be installed on the server! All local OnyxCeph³™ applications should be shut down before the update is launched since sometimes, also the server program or specific database tables have to be replaced. On the server, after language selection, click splash menu item "Update Server" and follow carefully all hints displayed by the update program.

 

Do I need to update all clients separately?


No, all clients are 'informed' about the update when OnyxCeph³™ is re-launched locally first time after server update and download newer files automatically from the server.
